Admissions Process
Our open admission process allows students to enroll at any time during the year, including during our Extended School Year Program. Students are placed by their local district, and attend at no cost to parents.
Virtual Tour of Honor Ridge Academy
Admission is a multi-step process:
TOUR: Most referrals to Honor Ridge Academy start with a visit. Parents and district staff can arrange a tour at any time. We strongly encourage parents to reach out to their local school district child study team (CST) if they plan to visit the school.
RECORDS: Honor Ridge Academy works cooperatively with local school districts to place students in an appropriate program. CSTs who wish to refer a student should send relevant records including the IEP, educational testing, and social and psychological reports to us. The Honor Ridge Academy intake team reviews the records as soon as they are received, so the process can move quickly. If the student is not an appropriate candidate for admissions, or if Honor Ridge Academy does not have an opening, we will contact the CST right away.
INTAKE MEETING: If the student appears to be an appropriate candidate, Honor Ridge Academy will contact CST case manager to invite him/her, parent(s)/guardian and the student to an intake meeting. During this meeting, Honor Ridge Academy staff will share information about the school and offer another tour of the program. A student ambassador may join the tour to discuss the program from a student’s point of view.
ACCEPTANCE: If the parent(s)/guardian, CST case manager and Honor Ridge Academy staff agree that the program is an appropriate placement for the student, the necessary acceptance paperwork will be completed.
FIRST DAY: The CST will arrange for round trip transportation, provided as part of the IEP. The parent(s)/guardian has the option to transport the student until transportation can be arranged.
